2016 — Beginnings

Bringing Jamaica to the streets of New York.

The company's journey began in 2016, when Jamrock Jerk first brought the flavors of Jamaica to local street fairs and festivals throughout New York City. What started as a small operation quickly evolved into a pursuit of something much greater.

2017 — Refinement

During the 2017 season, the founders focused on refining every aspect of the business, determined to create a quality-driven experience that blended authentic Jamaican culture with the professionalism and expectations of New York City.

As they traveled throughout the city, one thing became increasingly clear: there was a noticeable absence of authentic Jamaican Jerk being represented in the mobile food industry. Rather than accepting that reality, they decided to change it.

2018 — Creating a Category

The first permitted live-fire cart.

Following the 2017 season, Magnus and Anthyne set out to create what had never existed before — a legally permitted New York City street cart equipped with the grills, smokers, and specialized equipment necessary to produce a true Jamaican Jerk experience. Designed to reflect both functionality and the artistry synonymous with the islands, these custom-built units would become the foundation of a new category of mobile food service.

In 2018, Jamrock Jerk launched the first two of these groundbreaking units, becoming New York City's first legally permitted street carts equipped to authentically prepare Jamaican Jerk over live fire. That same year, the company established its own privately operated commissary and food preparation facility in Jamaica, Queens, laying the groundwork for future growth.
